Research:

We are located at the B building of the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry – IOCB Prague. The goal in our research group is to develop catalytic organic synthesis for drug discovery. We synthesize difficult-to-access targets, giving emphasis to drug-like molecules for which a key pharmacological property can only be envisioned. In this way, we hope to show the potential of synthesis while being exposed to unforeseen areas in chemical and medical research. We address problems in synthesis by designing catalytic methods and synthesis strategies based on mechanistic principles, hoping to develop more efficient, practical and selective (sustainable) reactions.

Education and Diversity:

We believe the prime goal of academic institutions is educating people in a broad sense. The learning process involves collaborations among individuals with different backgrounds and views, thus we promote selflessness and avert discrimination. The practice of organic synthesis, the core of our scientific mission, offers countless possibilities for teaching and learning. We hope to develop concepts and solve problems in chemistry with an eye to matters of sustainability and medicine, two topics of utmost importance. We are committed to promoting ways by which we can disconnect uncontrollable matters of life (age, gender, place of birth, race, sexual orientation, physical abilities, among many others) from life’s outcome. We are constantly educating ourselves on inequality as to offer growing support to underprivileged groups in our society.
“Learning is a process where knowledge is presented to us, then shaped through understanding, discussion and reflection.”
